This lovely, 1 3/8 inch bronze recast of a vintage medal of the Blessed Virgin Mary crowned with twelve stars. In her hands she holds flowers. Her dress and mantle have beautiful flowing folds adding to the beauty of this medal.  The reverse side shows the Sacred Heart of Jesus surrounded with thorns and the Immaculate Meart of Mary pierced with the sword. The image of the rosary is there also along with the words: San Damiano which means: St. Dominic. Pope Leo XIII wrote an encyclical titled: Octobri mense. In this encyclical Pope Loe teaches us: 

“That the Queen of Heaven herself has granted a great efficacy to this devotion is demonstrated by the fact that it was, by her command and counsel, instituted and propagated by the illustrious St. Dominic, in times particularly dangerous for the Catholic cause.”
