Ask, Seek and Knock

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

This past August we received a Facebook message wanting to know if we could make bracelets for an upcoming retreat. The retreat is for women and family members touched by domestic violence. Since that first inquiry, I have gotten to know Tiffany Mack, the woman behind the Facebook message. We talk on the phone, email and send text messages back and forth. She is a remarkable woman who lives everyday with the tangible knowledge that through God, good can come out of tragedy.

In 2009, Tiffany's sister, Lucinda, was a victim of domestic violence leaving behind three children, grieving parents and two sisters. Being devout Catholics, Tiffany and her family found solace in their faith. The idea of A.S.K. (Ask, Seek and Knock) came out of the tragedy of her sister's death. Tiffany experienced the healing her faith brought her but realized there was no organized avenue in the Catholic Church, that focused on domestic violence and how it impacted the women and families it touched. So being the incredible woman she is, with the help of her parents, they started A.S.K. in 2012.

Per the Ask, Seek and Knock website:

The mission of Ask, Seek and Knock is to bring awareness about domestic violence and dating abuse that occurs in the Christian community and around the world. The goal of Ask, Seek and Knock is to help a grieving family or child cope with the loss of their loved one from domestic violence or dating abuse. By offering support in the local parishes, and offering a Catholic Summer Camp for teenagers and adults where they can go find healing on retreats and by offering financial support  through scholarships for a college education, A.S K. hopes to help those families touched by violence.

A.S.K. is based out of Houston, Texas and is hosting it's first retreat on November 14-16, for anyone over 18 who has been effected by domestic violence. If you would like more information on the upcoming retreat, domestic violence or the Ask, Seek and Knock Ministries please contact Tiffany at justaskseekandknock@gmail.com or visit their website: http://www.askseekandknock.net/.

Peace and Joy,
